Media Relations Internnafsa3
Washington, D.C.
June 2014 – August 2014

During the summer of 2014, I lived in Washington, D.C. and worked as a Media Relations intern in the Public Policy department at NAFSA: Association for International Educators. I assisted in and attended Capitol Hill briefings hosted by NAFSA. Additionally, I designed website mock-ups and infographics for the U.S. Department of State’s 100,000 Strong in the Americas Initiative. This position was particularly challenging for me as it was my first experience in the field of public policy. It was an incredible learning experience, and I came to love learning about this field and how important it is to the field of international education.

Responsibilities and Accomplishments:
– Created and distributed daily compilation of news clips regarding relevant issues and higher/international education
– Assisted in preparing for and organizing events, such as Capitol Hill briefings
– Live-Tweeted for @NAFSA and @ConnectOurWorld
– Designed website mock-ups and infographics for U.S. Department of State’s 100,000 Strong in the Americas Initiative – http://www.100kstrongamericas.org/
